It's not everyday that you get to have your own little spaceship! I'm talking about the new audio conference phone from Grandstream, the GAC2500.
We had the chance to be part of the beta test club for the GAC2500 and after a lot of testing (and playing) we have only good things to say about it!
First, let's get technical:
1. Runs Andrioid 4.4 with full access to the Google Play Store
2. Gigabit ethernet 10/100/1000mbps
3. Built-in Bluetooth for syncing headsets and mobile devices
4. PoE (Power Over Ethernet)
5. WiFi Enabled
6. Supports 6 SIP Accounts and 7-way voice Conferencing
7. HD Audio
8. 4.3" Color Touch Screen
9. Suport for TLS and SRTP
10. Three Cardioid Microphones, 12 ft pickup distance (we tested it! )
See the datasheet here
Now, let's talk about our experience with the GAC2500.
It looks awesome and it's lightweight, yet very sturdy (it doesn't feel cheap)
Having android 4.4 is definitely a great characteristic. You can use it for skype, google hangouts, spotify or angry birds. The 4.3" Capacitive Touch Screen with 800x480 resolution works great for pretty much anything.
The Graphical User Interface is very simple to use and the fact that you can create and manage a conference bridge right from the browser is top notch. Mute or kick a participant, all with one click.
Of course, you can also do this from the phone itself.
The speaker has an excellent volume and clarity! Just as good as any of the audio conference leading brands, if not better. And so are the microphones. At 12 ft, the person at the other end could definitely have a normal conversation with us. This is great for medium side conference rooms.
The GAC2500 comes with a USB to 3.5mm cable that allows you to use it as a speaker, and microphone, for your computer. This is ideal to use with a soft-phone.
Hey, we even use it to play music at our office.
Bottom line, If you are looking for a great IP conference phone with tons of features, cross-platform compatibility and an amazing price, the Grandstream GAC2500 is the phone for you.
The GAC2500 is expected to be available later this year and we believe this will be a game changer in the IP Audio Conference world. Compared to other IP Conference Phones that we have had the chance to try, there is no doubt the GAC2500 offers the best value.
Feel free to pass by our office if you want to get a closer look to the GAC2500, we will let you play with it.
Spoiler Alert: Google Calendar Synchronization ;)
